Your journey is a pleasure to follow. I am inspired by your stick-to-it mentality and your commitment to yourself. You’ve come a long way and I am sure you will keep going. The part of the video I love the most is your smile! Great to behold as you take in your steady success. Thanks for showing us all how to make a goal and work to achieve it! A fabulous role model and seemingly lovely human being!
It takes a huge amount of courage (never mind determination!!) to be able to face ourselves with this amount of honesty. I always admire that. The fact that you are willing to share this is a real gift. Thank you Gabriel and best wishes always on your journey x
Thank you April 😄 your kind words make it a lot easier!
I definitely know having the luxury of time to focus on this gives me the advantage in being able to articulate what I'm facing. In some ways I'm glad I can make the best of being "backed into this corner".
My hope really has been to humanize this struggle, because I know many people don't seem to get much sympathy or even support. It would certainly be gratifying to only share the wins, but I think I owe it to others to give as complete picture as I can...which ain't easy!
I was listening and thinking of my response before I saw you tagged me! I'm happy to be in such good company in your fan club. I'll be honest--I don't listen for your sake. I always learn something from you.
I feel like I get to be a vicarious part of your journey. I've been getting in touch with my own metabolism and feeling it humming along after I've been exercising. It's different than a weight or fitness goal, more of a process thing, more subjective. I can't do a push up either.
You're looking great, Gabe, just to be shallow and superficial!
Thrilled to keep hearing there's stuff to learn from me 😁 and the 'shallow' compliment is absolutely appreciated!
Metabolism is a big topic, I've only learned enough to realize how much I've neglected that area. It seems like 'gut health' is a whole new dimension to the already quite intense food debates.
One of the recent connections I've made based off learning some of this stuff is that we need to find "the freedom in freedom". While I don't know enough to conclusively make the case, but I'm quite confident that there are many roads to a healthy lifestyle and much of the dogmatism hurts the cause. I'm beginning to internalize what that means for the other topics I'm focused on.
For example on a walk I listened to the IMA panel on artificial intelligence tools, and I was noticing that telling people just to switch to Linux (which I'm in favor of!) isn't sufficient to equip somebody to truly redefine what they want from tech for themselves. I understand we all need to start somewhere, but it's something I'm chewing on.
This is absolutely wild already. What you have been able to accomplish is so damn inspiring! Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey. You have a great head on your shoulders. I like you broke down your goals in more manageable milestones. This is probably the way to do it for any big goal one would like to achieve, not just weight loss. But how can you identify the steps if you weren’t smart in the first place?
You’re looking fabulous. Gonna pin the whole video for later, but wanted to leave a comment to congratulate you. You’ve lost a whole damn person worth of weight! Wow.
When you zoom out on that chart it looks amazing! Imagine if you had a $580k mortgage last year and managed to pay off $170k already. I'm looking forward to the update in 2026.
Gabe, you have a gentle and optimistic way about you that is really inspiring and makes me want to be a better person. I know first hand what a grind it is to live with personal difficulty - every minute, of every hour, of every day. The words you share help people overcome many personal obstacles.
What I find liberating about embracing is that a "growth mindset" transfers to other important domains. I find it funny that so many dismiss important critics (especially in the MFM space) as 'blackpillers' when it's clear that real hope only begins with brutal honesty and clarity.
There are so many small wins that can be celebrated that aren't tainted with compromise or political schemes. I think with more focus on those, people wouldn't be as afraid to face how bleak things look.
Critical thinking must be applied equally or else it is propaganda.
The application of the term 'blackpill' to a critical thinker is an insidious thought-terminating cliche designed to herd true dissidents back into line.
These are awesome milestones to celebrate, Gabriel, and I couldn't be prouder of you or more honored to have played some small role in supporting you along this journey!! 👏👏👏
You have radically changed your lifestyle for the better and likely saved your life in the process. Exercise is crucial, but diet is the key to losing significant weight and resetting your insulin sensitivity, so I encourage you to dedicate yourself to a low-carb diet (ideally under 30g carbs daily to maintain a state of fat-burning ketosis) combined with intermittent fasting. Checking both your blood sugar and ketone levels daily (right before you break your intermittent fast is a good time) are great ways to monitor and motivate, too.
Thank you Margaret Anna Alice for your kind words and for sharing! 🤩
It's funny, because my trainer is all but an outright carnivore advocate.
I think one of the hardest parts of any diet is that when you cut your eating enough, it's genuinely difficult to get enough important nutrients which leads to unsustainable misery.
Keto with a decent selection of foods definitely tackles the biggest of those problems, especially for people like me where the majority of my eating before was fast food and other processed junk.
But I've also noticed that hydration is a big fight!
Electrolyte balance and getting enough water can both make or break things no matter what diet is being employed.
Those are great points, Gabriel, and YES, hydration is especially important on a low-carb diet. I mix an Ultima Replenisher drink when I get up in the morning and then another before I go to bed. Since you're exercising more than me, electrolytes after a workout is a good idea, too, which you're probably already doing.

Thank you so much ☺️ I'm glad you found it comforting!
Revisiting the early days did me a lot of good, and I'm more excited for the road ahead.
Your kind praise means a lot!

You're welcome Gabriel. I think it helps to know that someone out in the world understands. You are not alone.
