Weston A. Price, Joel Salatin, Liz Reitzig, School of Traditional Skills, Beth and Shawn Dougherty (One Cow Revolution)

A Midwestern Doctor, Dr Pierre Kory, The Truth About Cancer, and many more great Substacks.

Your journey is multi-faceted. You want to learn about why Joel Salatin’s regenerative farming is critical to the future of farming, nutrient dense food, and loving and caring for Mother Earth.

Good job on your progress. Food is political and I hate the flattened discourse surrounding it. It’s fallen victim to the same tribalistic tendencies and I find that very frustrating...which is why I never (but definitely want to) write about it. That being said.. since you asked for recommendations… :) I will never turn down a chance to share some of what personally helped me and honestly transformed my life, not just my eating habits:

-Dr Michael Gregor — he wrote How Not to Die. He also runs the Nutrition Facts website, which has so much info on food, nutrition, disease, big pharma, drugs, govt subsidies and animal ag, etc. He’s very well respected even among the “mainstream” experts.

-Dr Neal Barnard - he’s written a number of books on nutrition and food. Lots of good stuff on reversing lifestyle-caused diseases that many physicians claim is impossible or just slap a band aid on the patient in the form of drugs. Also highly regarded.

-Ocean and John Robbins — every year they host an online “food revolution summit” which comprises of a bunch of interviews on various topics like lifestyle-caused illnesses, weight loss drugs, nutrition, supplements, Blue Zones, big pharma, corruption of 3-letter institutions, disease, food guides, etc. pretty much anything you can think of they cover. I’ve had so many “aha” moments watching these sessions. Honestly I would check this one out first because it involves so many people and condenses a lot of material into easily digestible segments.

-Becoming Vegan - Brenda Davis. Don’t let the title deter you… this book only has one chapter about animals, the rest is packed with information on nutrition, vitamins, macros, supplements, etc.

You might notice the above are all plant-based physicians / experts, so it’s obviously going to be from that lens but it’s all very well sourced and evidence-based (I realize everyone says that, but the only way you’ll ever know is if you check these out!)

Sorry for the lengthy comment. I hope that wasn’t too much. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate.
